Kujdesuni që fëmijët tuaj të kenë higjenë të mirë orale

Now that the presents are all opened, the candy canes are eaten and the ham, roast and turkey are all gone, it's time to make that New Year's resolution list.
Most resolution lists include eating less, working out more, driving more courteously, not speeding, spending less, not using that credit card so much, being nicer to the in-laws, stopping cursing or smoking, finding a better job, putting shopping carts away or writing that letter to old Aunt Millie in Buffalo.

So, in the spirit of these lofty goals, I would like to add a few dental items to the the list. Below are a few suggestions:

Make sure my child has regular checkups
The very best way to avoid big and expensive problems with your child's teeth is regular checkups. Even if your child does develop a cavity, your dentist can be very conservative with the filling.

Get your kids to drink more water and less "sweetened" drinks
Juices and sport drinks are loaded with sugars, every time your child drinks these, they coat the teeth in sugar that may cause cavities. Water helps rinse the mouth and is a much healthier choice.

Floss
Stopping smoking may be an easier resolution to keep, but it's the most important dental habit for your child to have. Keep in mind that where the teeth touch, the toothbrush cannot clean. So anything left in these areas literally rots on the teeth until cleaned away. Yuck.

Use a new toothbrush
No, I don't have stock in a toothbrush company. A new brush just cleans better than that old flared out one from last year you still use.
So forget your work-out clothes at home and eat that large pizza, but make sure you keep your children's dental health at the top of that to-do list.
